This is what I am working on at the moment, it is the Swallowtail Shawl designed by "Evelyn Clark designs" I am making this in Jellibeans sparkle yarn in Pink and not to certain as of yet wether to keep this or put it on my Etsy store as I have to get some new things on there as it is low in stock as I type. These were made for my Son for Christmas using Regia sock yarn

I really love these they were made for my partner using choppedtomatoes Glock yarn, there is a small amount of Cashmere in there which is making them so soft and my partner keeps telling me how nice they feel on his feet. The pattern I used was " Spiceman " via Ravelry downloads.

These are knitted in a basket weave stitch and as with all my Socks now are knitted Toe up using " Judy's magic cast on " I will never ever knit any cuff down socks as with toe up the heel being done via the short row mwthod is so much neater than the heel flap.

These are the Not Socks gloves that I made using my Friend Machelle's own pattern and the yarn was Jelliebeans Sparkle yarn, this is a gourgous yarn to work with and the finish on it is well worth the effort. I received this yarn from the Secret Santa in my knitting group "Cardiff Knits" Christmas party, I was definitely the luckiest person there.

Never felt so ill in my life

Christmas 2010 was cancelled at my flat as I have never felt so ill in my life, my wonderful partner had made the most stunning Christmas lunch but in no way could I eat it as my appetite was at zero. My temperature was 40 + and I had the shivers and goosebumps, I finally got my temp down by sleeping in the cool lounge on the sofa with just a thin sheet over me, in fact I was on that sofa for nearly 2 weeks as it turned into acute Bronchitis and as I was unable to lay down as it would trigger off a mad coughing fit.
I finally came through the end of the tunnel around New years eve when we went up to the Admirals skating rink and fun fair and went on the big wheel, although after about and hour I just wanted to return home. At 12 midnight my partner and I shared a romantic get together on my balcony watching the fireworks all around and seeing the New year in.

On the needles now is the first one of a pair of " not socks glove" this pattern is a design by my friend choppedtomatoes, you can purchase this on her Etsy site if you like the shape of them.The pattern is very easy to follow and includes pictures showing you all the techniques used.

This is the other side of the glove and I have just reached the place where I place the markers for the thumb placement.

This is chopped tomatoes original design for them using self patterning sock yarn.

Finally finished the Brides Bolero

Brides Bolero, I had to pin it in the back to stay on my Mannequin as this Bolero is a 54" Bust. I really love working with this yarn and it gives a stunning finish. The thing that bugged me a bit though is that the yarn pulls in the sleeves and make them look soooo long as if they would fit a flaming Monkey until you put your arm in to pull them out. This does make the pictures seem a bit weird tho.
My camera does not do these justice, seems as if a new one will have to be purchased to give my garments a better exposure.

well earned break

Having a well earned break now as my partner Allan and I are going to Great Yarmouth for a week. But I may take some crocheting with me just to keep me occupied as I do not want to be bored as I will raid the cupboards and don't want to jeopardise my weightless programme.
I had my monthly weigh in this month and I have lost a further 5lbs and now weigh 15st 4lb, still a long way to go before I get to my goal but with my shear determination I am sure I will make it seem like an easy task.

Finally finished the Bolero for the Bridesmaid, the Bride came and took a look at it and it brought tears to her eyes.
The problem with photos tho is that they do not do this garment justice as it does not pick up on the sparkly bits that are in the yarn.
Now to start on the next task of the Brides Bolero.

This is the Back of the Bolero on the needles, I have used Knit Pro's metal interchangeable needles as I find these so much nicer to work with. This yarn is so nice to work with and cannot understand how some people are afraid to work with eyelash yarns.

Swatch for Wedding Boleros

Swatch done and it knitted up pretty easy done on 6mm needles and the tension is 15sts x 20 rows and it worked out as a perfect match.

Pattern alterations have been done and now it is time to start the first Bolero.

The wool has arrived for the Wedding Bolero's

fist plan of attack is to knit the swatch has I have to increase the size of one of them as the pattern does not cover it.

This will not be too difficult for me as I have a programme on my PC called Knitware

which allows me to put the swatch dimentions in and the yardage of the ball of wool and choose the shape of the garment and then it will give me the written pattern.

I will upload a picture of the progress of the commission from the swatch to finish.

My culinary skills went out the window

Had a major hiccup yesterday, made a Cherry crumble and custard and it was a disaster. Followed the recipe on every step, but when I cooked it for the time stated the crumble mix was not hard at all.
I ate it but my partner put his in the bin. I think I have learnt my lesson now and will buy everything ready made from now on.
It shows me that I was born to knit and not too cook so i will now stick to what I am good at.

I am still busy knitting baby stuff, tho I am a bit miffed that for all the effort I am putting in to things no one seems to be interested in buying them. I do understand now how shopkeepers are so stressed out. I am knitting now a White & Pink Heart cardigan in Sirdar Snuggly and Stylecrafts Wondersoft yarn . I do realise now that in order for my things to sell I have to start making them in more up market yarns.
This is going to be made in a size 18 inch chest.

This is now completed and I must say I am really pleased the way it turned out. And was a little excited as how just threading a different shade of yarn through the Moss stitch rows would look so pretty.

I think I shall make a few more of these for my Esty store in different shades.

Sold my embroidery machine so I now have the space around me that I needed. I am in the middle of knitting loads of Baby clothes at the moment for my Grandaughter, my friends Grandaughter, my Cousins grandaughter and my Nephews Baby, and I was informed by my Son that 2 of his friends that I also know are expecting as well. So i think they just want to keep me busy.
My Divorce has started to get rather messy and is affecting me badly I am also having nightmares now but I do not know if it relating to the case. I just wish they would speed it up. I am snapping at everyone and can't stop crying,I just hope that I am not heading for a breakdown as the amount of knitting I have to do it would just get in my way.
Still coping well with the diet, I have to go back to the doctors at the end of the month for my weigh in so I hope I do well. I have noticed that my energy levels has increased so there must be some progress there.
well I must get back to the grindstone and get me knitting needles out. As soon as the items are finished I will put some pictures up.

I have really enjoyed knitting this shawl, I am on the edging now and where you have to cast off nearly 800sts I am finding it very time consuming. Then I have the finishing to do and I have decided to embellish it with White Satin Bows to jazz it up a bit.

DIVORCE

Having a few problems with my Divorce at the moment as my ex has it in his head that my new partner is living with me and is threatening to report me to the benefits agency. ( after 33yrs I need some space to do the things I want ).
This is making me really angry and upset and this going together with the menopause is not a good mixture. He is seeing someone else himself so why he is being such an ache in my side I do not know.
I am in court on June 11th to have my Divorce absolute, I am a bit apprensive to be sitting in the same room as him again. He had so much control over my life that I am afraid that the old feelings are going to be coming back and making me feel downtrodden again. Don't really want to go back to those dark days.
And I am in a quandry on wether to revert back to my maiden name as I am not sure how my Sons would react if I did. Anyone has any thoughts on this ?

Announcing the arrival of my first Granddaughter Carys Emily , She came into this world weighing 6lb 15 ozs.

I am very happy as I shall be allowed to see this Grandchild. Owing to the estranged relationship between my middle son and his seperated wife she has withdrawn acssess between myself and my 9yr old Grandson.

This does pain me no end but I have to keep going. I just pray that he will want to see me when he gets old enough to look himself.

I have a lot on this week, I have finished doing the knitting on the Pink Floyd sweater but now have the swiss darning on the back, front and cuffs to do, then after this is finished I have to finish off the Baby shawl for my Son and his wife.
My Nephew and his Wife has had a Baby Girl so has my friends daughter and my Son has been informed by the radiogapher that they are having a Girl as well so it is a busy time for me.
This will be my first Granddaughter, so she can look out at being well spoilt.

I am really pleased how the shawl is knitting up, it is in 4ply Robin Bambino in White. I have purchased some stunning self dyed sock yarn from two friends and I am waiting with intrepidition to start knitting it up. I have a nice Black and grey which I think I will knit up for my partner.

New beginings

I am finally able to get back to my blog after 4 yrs. A lot of things have been happening in that time. I had been married for 33ys but the last 10yrs was a living hell. I could not do any of my crafts cos as far as my hubby was concerned I was crap at it all. He became controlling and that was the finall straw.
So I plucked up the courage and left him in January 2009. My life as changed tremendously, I have been able to grow my hair again to have has I like it. I have also started a weight loss regime and most importantly I have been able to start up my crafts again.
I have had to give up on my machine knitting nowas the consultent found that I have a curve in my spine and the action of using the machine was causing me great pain. To counter act this I have invested in the Brother Innovis 700E II embroidery machine of which I now have to learn how to use.

I now have the most wonderful and considerate partner who treats me like a Princess and with the respect I deserve. I am also going to become a Grandmother to a Baby Girl due to be born in April.

Front & Back view of my Daughter - in -Laws circular shawl jacket, it is knitted in 2 strands of 2/16 Ripple yarn, 50 hand stitched Pearl Teardrop Beads.
Very pleased with the outcome but was very time consuming to knit.
The pattern was out of Zandra Rhodes collection for Brother Book. If you like way out and unusual designs it is worth trying to get this book.

Christmas is coming

I was informed today that there are 112 days to christmas. So I have been going through my list.
Jacket for Daughter in Law, sweater for hubby, sweater for my grandson + a stocking, garter stitch cardi for my dad, sweater for my youngest in Aston Villa colours, sweater for the middle one, evening jacket for my friend, got to decide what to do for my sons mother in law and also something for myself.
So I think I had better get in overdrive.
Tomorrow is the start of countdown starting with my daughter in laws jacket.

Garter stitch panelled sweater

I have finished my first sweater using my KG93 Garter carriage. It is made with BSK 4ply Acrylic, I quite enjoyed using the garter carriage and wash fasinated watching it work.

This is the Garter stitch design, 51 rows by 24 sts

I tried to do a Rolled neckiline but the roll went the wrong way so I had to re-adjust. I undone the amount of rows needed and stitch down inside neck, only thing was the Purl side was showing instead of the plain. But I do like the ridge ontop of the neck band that the purl stitches have made.

I made this with my 950i and it is the first time I have used my knitleader aswell, it is made in Cascades 4ply crepe. The pattern called for 3 strands of metropolitan crepe which I did not have so I done three different sized tension swatches and decided on T5 drew the mesurments on the knitleader chart and it all came out beautifully, it was also the first time I have done a Bias edging on a garment,my next task is learning to use my Garter carriage this weekend using Colins pattern which was in MKM. Hopefully I will finish it before he comes back from his hols and see what he will think of my efforts.
Might be just pulling my hair out.

Can any of you give me some advise on how you transfer this to DAK of PPD of how the mylar sheet should be marked.
I have done this by handtooling but took a bit of time.
The photo shows the chart that I found in my handknitting book.
How to convert is the problem.

Groom bear finished

Hip Hip Hooray!!!!
The groom is finished, I am glad I have a photo of him as I have fallen in love, i hope my S and future DIL will love him as much as me.
My life can get back to normal now, I have completed a shrug made with Eskimo wool for the wedding we went to on Saturday, to blathered on Sunday to do anything so DH took me out for dinner to save me from struggling by the cooker.

I have completed 2 crocheted baby beanie hats and have to sew together and finish neckline of a sweater for my friend, as her eyes are ok for the actual knitting but not for doing the finer things.
Onto my next project now the vest & shrug set out of the current SIMPLY KNITTING.

Colour combining

This is the colour combining sweater for my DH, is the front of the garment, the centre panel was done with needles in holding position, and has a cut & sew neckline for which I am a bit nervous of.
It has been done in 4ply Acrylic on the Brother 950i, I choose this design to help me get into using my machine, hope after this to progress into programming as I have seen some beautiful designs around that this machine is capable of just have to pluck up the courage to try them.

I am pulling my hair out trying to understand some people, I was asked to knit a few sweaters for this elderly lady, she remarked about 5/6 of them, so I took some shade cards down for her to pick out what colours even knitted up a few.
She picked them, 2 of the colours I already had but had to order the others fron Yeoman Yarns when I knitted some of these up she decided she did not like two of them and picked two more of the colours I already had, but I had to keep smiling, but my friends could tell by my eyes that I looked evil.
Hope I am not that tempremental in another 10 years time.

I am sharing this room with my computer, 2 machines, my grandsons outgrown toys and all the christmas decorations and I want to go to Shepton Mallett next month.

This set was made with Stylecrafts chunky and their chunky fashion yarn Ragtime colour Mauve. I was reall y pleased with the bag which is knitted in moss stitch.

Really excited after making this as it turned out really well.
The lady concerned was absolutly gushing.
Even bought me a box of chocs as she was so pleased and can not wait to give it to her daughter who is due within the next 2 weeks.

You can either do the band in the same yarn as the main parts, or which I went for is using 2 balls of Plume eyelash yarn.
It has been fancied by numerous people when I have worn it out.
I amm thinking of putting my own yarn combinations together to see how it turns out.

Very plesed with this one.

I purchased this yarn from the knitting exhibition in Birminghams NEC.
It is a kit for a jacket from the company Bee Bee wools.
You use the four yarns together and make it on 15mm needles.
I had the jacket finished within 3 days.

No patterning to do just plain & purl
The kit includes 3 balls of poodle with 3 ballsof White in a silky texture

Made this in Black Lion Brand crochet chennile for my future daughter-in-law for christmas

Went down really well, I also done a ribbed shrug in Black Double knitting yarn. I told her I hope I am not being forward because I also gave her a learn to knit book plus a bag with pattern, needles and a scarf pattern.

I do enjoy knitting for her but I thought she should now learn herself to experience the same enjoyment had by all us knitters.

I made the lacy wrap out of the scarf style book for my sons future mother-in-law for christmas I recieve the most beautiful letter thanking me, quite pleased with myself.

This is the shawl in more detail, I made it in Sirdars Snuggly 4 ply yarn it is really soft, would well recommend this yarn.

At last the shawl is finished, the edging consists of 168 inches long, 10 rows to the pattern so I have worked out that I knitted 1168 rows, took me four days.
I was quite glad I had the linker to attach it to the main part.
My holiday is looming close, can prepare now this shawl is of my hands.

this have been unpicked twice, but I think I am getting there after taking the vallium.
Has any of you knitters ever done the BIND stitch. I am now halfway only another 20 inches to go.
Then it is the border to do and then I am finished
I will definatly need my holiday after this.
